Is my Contemporary Nonstick safe to use?
Under normal conditions Calphalon non-stick cookware is completely safe to use, and poses no serious health risks. The substance used to make non-stick coatings that has received adverse press coverage is perfluorooctanic acid (PFOA). It is important to know that after non-stick coatings are applied to cookware there is no PFOA remaining in the coating.
During processing, non-stick coatings are exposed to high temperatures that eliminate PFOA from the coating. In addition to the fact that PFOA is not present in cookware with non-stick coating, an extensive number of studies have been performed affirming that there is no evidence indicating adverse health effects related to low levels of exposure to PFOA.
