Calphalon One

PRODUCT USE
We know you are excited to get started - the following guide will help you achieve the best cooking results with your Calphalon One cookware.
Before you cook:
- Wash your pan in hot soapy water and dry thoroughly.
- Do not attempt to season your pan. It’s unnecessary with Calphalon One.
Recommended heat settings for stovetop cooking:
- Use low heat to warm foods, simmer or prepare delicate sauces.
- Use medium heat for searing, sautéing, frying and stir-frying.
- Use high heat for boiling and reducing liquids only.
Pre-heating your pan on the stovetop:
- Always pre-heat your pan before adding oil or butter. Pre-heat using a heat setting slightly higher than the temperature you intend to use when cooking.
- Pre-heat your pan for 2-3 minutes if warming foods, simmering or preparing delicate sauces. Pre-heat your pan for 4-5 minutes if searing, sautéing, frying, stir-frying or boiling.
- Handy Hint: To determine whether your pan is hot enough for cooking, place your hand palm side down 30cm above the pan. If you can easily feel the residual heat from the pan, it is ready to begin cooking. Alternatively, wipe a dab of butter on the bottom of the pan. If it bubbles briskly without burning, your pan is perfectly pre-heated.
- Choose a burner size to match the diameter of the base of your pan.
Adding oil or butter:
- When searing or sautéing, a small amount of oil or butter is all you need. Your recipe may call for more; if so we recommend you follow the recipe.
- Handy Hint: When cooking at higher temperatures (ie. searing, sautéing, frying or stir-frying) use grapeseed, peanut, or macadamia oil. These oils remain stable and don’t 'breakdown', smoke or splatter at higher temperatures. When cooking at lower temperatures (ie. warming foods, simmering or preparing delicate sauces) use olive oil or butter. These fats have more flavour and can enhance the taste of your food.
- Allow the oil to heat for a minute before adding food to the pan.
- Aerosol-cooking sprays contain a chemical propellant that is not recommended for use with Calphalon One.
Utensils:
- Metal, wood and heat-resistant plastic utensils are all suitable for use with Calphalon One.
Oven, stovetop and grill use:
- Calphalon One cookware is oven safe (up to 270°C) and grill safe.
- Handy Hint: Be careful! Handles will become hot in the oven or grill - always use oven mitts.
- Calphalon One is suitable for use on all stovetops except induction.
Avoid ‘sticky’ situations:
- Remove food from the refrigerator 10 minutes before you intend to cook. Ice-cold food is more likely to stick to a hot pan.
- When cooking meat, pat dry with paper towel and coat with a small amount of oil before cooking.
- Keep your pan scrupulously clean! Be sure you have removed all traces of cooking oil.
- Remember to pre-heat your pan and allow the oil to heat for a minute before you add the food.
PRODUCT CLEANING
- After removing food from your pan, we recommend filling with hot soapy water. This will ensure your piece is easy to clean later. Any burnt-on food will lift off after soaking in hot soapy water.
- Avoid submerging a hot pan in cold water. This may cause irreparable warping.
- Calphalon One is not dishwasher safe. Always hand wash in hot soapy water, ensuring all traces of oil have been removed.
- To maintain the condition of your piece, wash the interior and exterior with a green Scotch Brite® pad and your sample of Bars Keepers Friend*. Ajax Powder is also recommended. *Bar Keepers Friend is available at selected stockists around Australia, please call 1800 099 012 for a stockist near you.
- Avoid using oven cleaners, baking soda, automatic dishwasher detergent, liquid bleach, and liquid household cleaners used for walls, floors, porcelain, etc. These harsh detergents will damage the infused anodised surface.
- Calphalon One is handcrafted cookware; you may notice subtle variations in the pans' finish. These ‘character lines’ are perfectly normal – a natural result of the manufacturing process.
