PRODUCT USE
We know you are excited to get started - the following guide will help you achieve the best cooking results with your Contemporary Nonstick-IH cookware.
Before you cook:
- Wash your pan in hot soapy water and dry thoroughly.
- Do not attempt to season your pan. It’s unnecessary with Contemporary Nonstick-IH.
Recommended heat settings for stovetop cooking:
- Use low heat to warm foods, simmer or prepare delicate sauces.
- Use medium heat for searing, sautéing, frying and stir-frying.
- Use high heat for boiling and reducing liquids only.
Pre-heating your pan on the stovetop:
* The NEW Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick-IH range can now be used on Induction Stovetops
- Always pre-heat your pan before adding your food. Pre-heat using the heat setting you intend to use when cooking.
- Pre-heat your pan for 2-3 minutes if warming foods, simmering or preparing delicate sauces. Pre-heat your pan for 4-5 minutes if searing, sautéing, frying, stir-frying or boiling.
- Handy Hint: To determine whether your pan is hot enough for cooking place your hand palm side down 30cm above the pan and if you can easily feel the residual heat from the pan, it is ready to begin cooking.
- Choose a burner size to match the diameter of the base of your pan.
- Oil or butter is not required when cooking with Contemporary Nonstick-IH. However, you can choose to use oil or butter to add flavour.
Utensils:
- Use only heat-resistant plastic, coated or wood utensils to protect your pan’s non-stick finish.
- Oven and grill use:
- Contemporary Nonstick-IH cookware is oven safe up to 230°C but is not suitable for use under the grill.
- Handy Hint: Be careful! Handles will become hot in the oven - always use oven mitts.
- Contemporary Nonstick is suitable for use on all stovetops including induction
- Contemporary Nonstick is not dishwasher safe. Always hand wash in hot soapy water, ensuring all traces of oil have been removed.
- Avoid submerging a hot pan in cold water. This may cause irreparable warping.
- Avoid using metal scourers or utensils when cleaning, as this will damage the non-stick surface.
- Handy Hint: To maintain the exterior of your piece, wash with a green Scotch Brite® pad and Ajax Powder.
- Avoid using oven cleaners, baking soda, automatic dishwasher detergent, liquid bleach, and liquid household cleaners used for walls, floors, porcelain, etc. These harsh detergents will damage the non-stick surface.
